Tie-Breakers and Playoff Seeds –
Just like in the NFL all ties are settled within the division first.
Any ties involving a Bye, or an Elimination will be settled via a play-in game.
Any ties involving just seeding will be settled either via head-to-head or a die roll.
For any play-in game(s):
*Every eligible rp is allowed to pitch up to 2 innings.
*It is considered a continuation of the regular season so if you had a 4-man rotation your #1 starter must start the first play-in game. If there are more than one play-in games your order continues. If there is say a 3 for 2 situation and you are not playing in the 1st game, you get a day of rest for your Starter decision.
*2 Way Tie for 1-spot with the spot either being a BYE or an elimination. One game playoff. If 1 team won their regular series, the h2h they would bat last, and it would be in their park. If the teams split it would be in the “combo” park and a die roll would determine who would bat last.
*In ties involving more than 1-team unless there is a team in the tie-break which won (or lost) the season series over every team all games would be played in the combo park. Yes, in the 2nd game even if you had the h2h tiebreaker it would still be in the combo park if you did not win the h2h vs every team in the tie.
*In a “3 for 1” scenario Team A would normally (unless the h2h amongst all teams is a clear “leader” as above) bat last in Game 2, Team B would bat last in Game 1 and Team C would bat first in Game 1 and the winner would bat last in Game 2.
*In a “4 for 2” situation Team A would bat last vs Team D and Team B would bat last vs Team C. The two winner’s advance. The Team designations would determine who would be the better seeds of the advancers.
*If a “4 for 1” situation same as the “4 for 2” but the 2nd game Team A would bat last if it won, Team D would bat 1st if it won etc.
*If there is a “3 for 2” team scenario in which the 3rd only gets 1 chance to win a game, if they do win that game, they get the “best” seed. As an example, Team A is seeded 1st, Team B is seeded 2nd and Team C is seeded 3rd. In Game 1 Team A bats last. In Game 2 Team C bats last if the game is in the Combo Park and 1st if they lost h2h tiebreaker to both Teams A and B. However, If Team C wins the last game, they would be the best of the 3 seeds (since they only had 1 chance to advance). The team that won Game 1 would either be the lowest seed if Team C wins the last game or the highest seed if the team, they beat in Game 1 wins Game 2.
For Playoff Seeds
*It is divisional placement first, and then we look at records among those on the same divisional placement line. If not everyone on the same line would receive a BYE or make the playoffs then things would be settled via a play-in game. All play-in games for seeds are playing in the Combo Park.
*If no play-in games are required we go by winning % (which I believe is how they do it at the Worlds), and then a dice roll.
*Examples where we would need a play-in game would be 1) for a BYE (or an elimination) because of 2) tied records for the last BYE (or advancing spot)
*If we have 3 divisions and 4 teams get a BYE and 1 or more of the 2nd place teams are tied for getting a BYE, we would settle them as listed above with the “2 for 1” or “3-1” situation.
*If multiple BYEs are available and there is a tie amongst more than 2 teams only the “worst” two teams after the dice roll would play the 1-game for a BYE (since everyone is still making the playoffs).
*If multiple tied teams though are being eliminated from that divisional line all teams would have play-in games
*Any other tie scenarios that could not easily be covered by the rules or general principles above I will rule on as it happens and then we will document that scenario so going forward it will remain consistent.
